Joan studied at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and the American Academy of Art, Chicago, Illinois, receiving degrees in both Fine Art and Commercial Art.

After working in the commercial field for 5 years, in 1969 she moved on to specialize in pastel, watercolor and colored pencil.

Joan exhibited in many shows, namely, the “Palette and Chisel Academy of Fine Arts”, the “Transparent Watercolor Society of America”, “Oil Painters of America”, “Watercolor Wisconsin” and the “Pastel Society of America”.

She has participated in other National and Regional shows where she has won numerous “Best of Show”, “First Place”, and “Purchase Awards”.

Joan's work is on display in many Corporate and private collections throughout the United States and Europe.  She does numerous special assignment commissions:  Landscapes, Seascapes, Still Life, Boats and Portraits of all kinds.
