About Joan

Joan Grommes Franzen studied at the University of Wisconsin - Madison and the American Academy of Art in Chicago, Illinois, receiving degrees in both fine art and commercial art.

She received a grant for instructing students in pastel at Maine East High School, Park Ridge, IL. She says, "This was one of the most rewarding and satisfying experiences of my career."

Joan has been an art instructor for over 40 years, teaching Watercolor. Pastel and Colored pencil. She teaches students 18 and older, whether just beginning or advanced. She teaches classes at the Morean Art Center, including surrounding areas of  St Petersburg, Florida, and in Williams Bay, Wisconsin. She has taught at The Clearing in Door County, Wisconsin and The Studio in Mount Prospect, Illinois. “It is a gratifying experience to see so many students who love working in one or all mediums and accomplishing so much in such a short period of time.”

Joan had run the Williams Bay Juried Art Fair, in Williams Bay, Wisconsin, for 12 years.

“I enjoyed helping so many talented artists, to show their works, in all fields of art whether painting, sculpture, wood, jewelry, etc.”
